Ready, Set, Go! Preschool

Questions we often hear?

Q1: How many hours a week can my child attend?

A: Our center is open from 9 am to 3 pm every weekday with the exception of holidays. Most children receive 25-30 hours of therapy per week (see Q4 for more detail).

Q2: How do you make sure my child will get quality therapy?

A:  The Behavioral Interventionist works directly with your child. They develop, implement and monitor your child's plan.  In addition, they train and monitor the Community Support Therapists who carry out and follow the child's treatment plan when a Behavioral Interventionist is not working with your child.

Q3: If some of my child's services are Community Support Services, will my child get the therapy they need?

A: All our staff are trained to interact with children in a manner that promotes their learning.  Our goal is to take advantage of every learning opportunity. We are able to do this because our Community Support Services are designed and delivered using the same ABA therapy techniques that are provided by the Behavioral Interventionist.

Q4: How does your service and other services compare to the standards of best "Best Practice"?

Q5: But aren't Behavioral Intervention and Habilitative Skill services better for my child?

A: Not necessarily. It depends on the training of the staff and how well they interact with your child. We know that a few hours of well conducted Behavior Intervention and/or Habilitative Skill Therapy is not enough. So we train our Community Support Staff to the higher standard of Habilitative Skill. Our Community Support staff complete a 10 month inservice and practicum in ABA procedures and practices (while they are working with children). Upon completion they are proficient in  Habilitative Skill techniques.  Therefore, in addition to providing support within the typical daycare/preschool activities  with your child's peers, they are also are qualified to provide discrete trial instruction, natural environmental training, ongoing behavioral support programs and generalization of learned skills. Training staff to this level allows us to provide your child the quantity and intensity of evidence-based service necessary to take advantage of their preschool years and to optimize their progress.

Q6: How is the program paid for?

A: Typically,  children who attend the program are Medicaid eligible. Medicaid pays for Behavioral Intervention, Interdisciplinary Training and Community-Based Supports.  Each child is provided a combination of these therapies.  We include Community-Based Support Service hours into the child's day to maximize the number hours devoted to your child's therapy.   For those without Medicaid private pay is an option.

Q7: Is transportation provided?

A: Although we no longer provide transportation services, if your child qualifies through Medicaid for our services and you are not able to transport, your child should also qualify for transportation services through Medicaid's transportation broker.  Please talk to us or to your case manager for more information.
